We are seeking stories, articles and essays on the general subject of
golfing misadventure for publication in Golfing's Greatest Misadventures.
We are looking for nonfiction, first-person golfing stories about bad
judgment calls, pranks, comical/ironic episodes, disaster, animal attacks,
bizarre injuries, regretful shots, temper flare-ups, rough weather,
misfortune, loss of wit, critical conditions, contest meltdowns, golfing
trips gone wrong or the off-course episodes that surround the golfing
experience. We’re looking for stories that have five important
attributes--we want stories that: 1) tell a good tale, 2) reflect golfing
culture, 3) develop the depth of the characters involved, 4) have a
tight narrative tension, and 5) have a payoff at the end. There is
no fee or cost to submit a story. Open to writers and golfers of any
level.
Payment
Writers will be paid $100 and four contributor copies upon publication
if their story is selected for publication.
Book Description
Golfing’s Greatest Misadventures presents thirty true stories which
cover the spectrum from terrifying to comical to downright bizarre. In
these pages both everyday golfers and pros tell their stories of freak
accidents, animal attacks, sabotage, pranks, errant balls and behavior,
unexplained incidents, and other jaw-dropping calamities. These stories
bring to life the strange possibilities that await us at tee off.
